The Normanby Hall 10k (or the Norman Bee) on June 30th is hosted from the Normanby Hall Estate in North Lincolnshire. In 2017 the venue launched the Tour of Britain stage.
The 10k route takes you passed the main crowd before heading out through local villages during the annual Burton in Bloom festival, where local villages make their gardens look in their best possible shape and get decked out with flags and bunting.
It’s a very fast first 5k with many hitting their 5k pb times before a not too arduous 1 mile slight uphill section, it’s then through the centre of Burton village before a very quick final 1.5k all downhill finish right through the main gates and in front of the crowds at the main hall.
The event linking in with the Burton in Bloom theme helps to raise awareness for Bumblebee’s (wildlife is another passion of the Curly’s team) so expect Bee based updates, Bee themed t-shirts as an option and many athletes deciding to go “full bee” dressing up for the occasion. This has led to a special best dressed Bee trophy and Curly’s working the team at Habitat Aid to give away a packet of Bee friendly wildflower seeds to every competitor (which is a first for goodie bags!)
The event is fully chip timed, with some road closures and some open roads, super smooth recently resurfaced tarmac (thanks to the Tour of Britain), free parking, access to the park for the day, finish line cake and a Bee themed medal plus special workers Bee’s helping make the event great for everyone involved.
This event is high on people lists of favourite all time 10k courses for many runners.
See you soon!
